Hooker heads to Galway

Magners League outfit Connacht have announced the signing of Ethienne Reynecke on a two-year deal. The South African hooker joins from Saracens after the Irish club confirmed the 29-year-old will head to Galway at the end of the season. Reynecke, who has also played against the British and Irish Lions, is back in his native land, on loan with the Stormers, after spending two seasons in the Aviva Premiership. He also boasts Super Rugby, Currie Cup and Vodacom Cup experience from his stint with the Lions. "With Sean (Cronin) moving on at the end of the season we needed cover at hooker and we are very pleased to sign a player of Ethienne's calibre, especially in such a crucial position," said Connacht head coach Eric Elwood. "He is an experienced player who we are confident can offer a lot to Connacht." Reynecke added: "I'm very excited at the prospect of going to Ireland, especially Galway. "Connacht has shown this season they are serious about establishing a strong and successful rugby culture there, and I intend giving my all to contribute to the cause."
