Wasps winger Tom Varndell has been ruled out for up to 12 weeks with an ankle injury.
The 25-year-old was sustained ligament damage during Sunday's Aviva Premiership defeat to Gloucester at Adams Park.
It has now been confirmed that the ex-Leicester player will require surgery, meaning his ever-present record for the season will now come to an end.
Varndell has scored 12 tries this season and Wasps director of rugby Tony Hanks admits his absence, particularly at such a key time in the season, is a blow to the capital club.
"We are really disappointed for Tom, especially as this season he has been injury-free and has been involved in every single game," he said.
"His form has been very strong and we will certainly miss him but are confident he will make a full recovery."
