Newcastle have received a double boost with news captain James Hudson and winger Luke Fielden have signed two-year extensions to their contracts.

Hudson joined the Falcons in 2009 from London Irish, while Fielden was snapped up from Bedford in the summer.

And Hudson is determined to lead Newcastle forward.

"I'm delighted to have signed a new contract and be a part of the club going forward," he said.

"The club has a really good future and I want to help the Falcons achieve great success.

"Our fans are massively important to us. We want them to keep coming back and the only way to get them back is if we win games and play some exciting, entertaining rugby."

Fielden has scored six tries so far this season and he is hoping he can continue to develop at Kingston Park.

"I'm really pleased and it's a bit of a weight off my shoulder," said Fielden.

"To have that stability and know where I'm going to be for the next two years of my life is great. I can get my head down now and work hard."
