South Africa prop Tendai Mtawarira has ended speculation about his future by agreeing a new deal with the Sharks.

Mtawarira, known as the Beast, had been strongly linked to a move to the Lions but he has now opted to stay in Natal and signed a three-year contract.

"The Beast is a big part of the Sharks having come from nowhere to advance from the Sharks Academy to the senior team and then to the Springboks," coach John Plumtree told South African newspaper The Mercury.

"He has gone on to become one of the best loosehead props in the world and our coaching staff are excited about continuing his development."
