Western Force back Mark Bartholomeusz could miss the start of the Super 15 season after rupturing ligaments in his left ankle.

The 33-year-old has been told he faces about 10 weeks on the sidelines after suffering the injury training - with Bartholomeusz accidently stepped on another player's foot.

Bartholomeusz has begun rehabilitation as he bid to return to action in time for the season-opener against the Reds in Brisbane on February 20.
