Nottingham have pulled off a massive coup by signing All Blacks lock Ali Williams on a short-term deal.
Williams, who has been capped 61 times, will play four games for the Championship club in January as he looks battle back from successive Achilles tendon injuries.
Williams last played Super Rugby for the Blues in 2009 and has undergone three operations after twice tearing his Achilles.
The 29-year-old will now head to England in a bid to prove his fitness ahead of the inaugural Super 15 season - with one eye on regaining a place in the All Blacks side ahead of the World Cup.
"Ali's itching to get back on the field to build his fitness and confidence," New Zealand Rugby Union general manager of professional rugby Neil Sorensen said in a statement.
"Both the NZRU and the Blues are happy to support him getting some game time before he joins the Blues squad for their pre-season camp in late January."
