Newport Gwent Dragons centre Matthew Watkins is facing several months on the sidelines after undergoing abdominal surgery.
The Wales international has had an operation to resolve a non-rugby related problem, with Watkins hoping to make a full recovery.
"I'd like to thank everyone at the Dragons for their support," Watkins told the Dragons official site.
"The operation was a success and I'm on the road to recovery. I'm looking forward to getting back into a Dragons shirt as soon as possible."
The Dragons are hoping to see Watkins back in action soon.
Rugby manager Robert Beale added: "We are pleased that Matthew's surgery has gone well and we wish him the very best for the coming months.
"Although this is obviously a blow for the Dragons we will be delighted when he is able to return to playing duties, our only concern is for Matthew's overall health and wellbeing."
