Centre ruptures ACL in his knee

The Ospreys have been dealt a pre-season blow after an MRI scan confirmed that centre Jonathan Spratt had ruptured his ACL in his left knee. Spratt's injury took place during Tuesday's game against a Regional Select XV and is particularly unfortunate for the two-time capped international, who had only recently returned to action after undergoing an operation to repair a disc problem in his back. "Jonathan suffered a left knee injury on Tuesday, and an MRI scan has confirmed our suspicion that he had ruptured his ACL," head physio Chris Towers told the region's website. "He will need to undergo surgery to reconstruct the ligament, after which we will have a clearer idea of timescales, and will be able to provide a further update in due course."
