Sale head coach tips new signing tol be a 'big hit'

Sale head coach Mike Brewer believes new signing Paul Williams will be a "big hit" with the Sharks. Williams, who can play either on the wing or at full-back, has agreed an initial one-year deal with the Edgeley Park club with the option to extend his stay. Williams, the son of former All Black Bryan Williams and brother of Samoan international Gavin Williams, arrives from the Blues. The 27-year-old has also played for the Highlanders and the Crusaders in the Super 14, as well as being the vice-captain of Canterbury when they won the Air New Zealand Cup in 2009. He was also part of the All Blacks training squad in 2008. Brewer is certainly expecting big things from Williams when he arrives at the club. "I am delighted that Paul has agreed to join us at Sale Sharks," said Brewer. "He is an exciting player and has played at a high level in New Zealand. He is an explosive player, plenty of pace. "He will add power to our three-quarters and will fit perfectly into our back line alongside Mathew Tait and Mark Cueto. "He has a good pair of hands, a good offload, great vision and I am sure will prove to be a big hit with the supporters."
