Bath forced to recall fly-half

Butch James has seen his hopes for ending his two-year exile from the South Africa team ended by Premier Rugby. The Bath fly-half had been named in the Springboks line-up for the first time since 2008 for the friendly against Wales on Saturday at the Millennium Stadium. However he has been forced to withdraw after Premier Rugby enforced its policy of not releasing players for Tests that fall outside the recognised international window. As a result James - who had been aiming to make an impression ahead of next year's World Cup - has returned to Bath, despite the club themselves having no issue with his inclusion. As a result, Zane Kirchner has been called up to the South Africa squad, with a revised line-up set to be announced later. Victor Matfield is also set to join up with the squad as Andries Bekker has been ruled out with a foot injury.
