Former Ireland full-back honoured by Hall of Fame induction

Former Ireland full-back Girvan Dempsey has confirmed he will retire at the end of the season. Dempsey, who has been capped 82 times and starred in three Triple Crown-winning sides, will hang up his boots for good at the end of Leinster's play-off campaign. Dempsey has been capped 174 times by his province since making his debut in 1996 and has won the Celtic League and Magners League title, as well as the Heineken Cup. And Dempsey's achievements during his distinguished career means he will be inducted into the Irish Rugby Union Players' Association (IRUPA) Hall of Fame. Dempsey follows the likes of Mick Galwey, Anthony Foley, David Humphreys and Keith Wood in receiving the honour. "I am honoured to be accepting this award and joining the former players already inducted into the Bord Gáis Energy IRUPA Hall of Fame," said Dempsey. "This award means an awful lot to me especially as it comes from players I played with and against during my career."
