Experienced hooker agrees 12-month deal

Worcester have been boosted by news that the vastly experienced Chris Fortey has agreed a new deal. The 34-year-old, who has made 114 appearances for the Warriors, has become a firm favourite at the club since joining from Gloucester in 2005. And Fortey is hoping he can continue to play a key role at Sixways. He said: "I'm pleased to have got a new contract as I still have a huge hunger and desire for the game. "It's great that I am still part of Mike Ruddock's plans and there is still lots I want to achieve at Worcester Warriors." Worcester director of rugby Mike Ruddock believes Fortey will be a vital part of the squad again next season. "I'm delighted to announce that Chris Fortey has signed a contract extension for a further year at the Warriors," said Ruddock. "I honestly believe that Chris is playing some of the best rugby of his life and his contribution to the team is very significant. "He has developed into a leadership figure at the club and his aggressive and no nonsense style has won him huge respect from his team-mates and his opponents. "I fully expect Chris to contribute considerably again next season and add to his current 206 Premiership appearances."
