Matfield: cleared of foul play
Bulls captain Victor Matfield has been cleared of foul play during his side's 50-32 victory over the Brumbies on February 20.
Matfield was cited following an incident with Brumbies flanker Rocky Elsom in the first-half and subsequently faced a SANZAR disciplinary hearing where he was found not guilty of striking an opponent around the head area.
He is, therefore, available for the defending Super 14 champions' next fixture against the Waratahs on February 27.
Frans Ludeke's team received a further boost with the news that flanker Pierre Spies is available to face the Waratahs after being cleared of structural damage to his knee.
"He actually injured a muscle behind the knee, which was good news, at we feared for some structural damage to the knee," team doctor Org Strauss said.
"We expect him to be fit."
Dewald Potgieter (knee) and Danie Rossouw (neck) have also been passed fit, but Jaco Pretorius is still out due to a quad strain.
