Cardiff Blues have confirmed the signing of Tom Brown from London Welsh.

The 26-year-old back row, who has represented Wales at Under-21 level, as well as being involved in the rugby league setup at the European Nations Cup in 2004, has been rewarded for his good form with the Championship side to make the move to Cardiff.

And Brown is clearly relishing the challenge of stepping up to the Magners League having also played for Coventry and Worcester.

"It's great to have signed for the Blues and I'm really looking forward to getting my opportunity to both train with them, and hopefully play for them," he said.

"Playing for the Blues will be a massive challenge, but one that I'm really looking forward to," said Brown.

Intensity

"It will be a step up in intensity and physicality but that is one of the reasons why I joined.

"It will be great to train alongside international players, and I'm also looking forward to playing in the Magners League and Cup competitions."

Blues director of rugby Dai Young believes that Brown will become a valuable addition to his squad.

"We are keen to have more youngsters in the squad who bring that energy, hunger and desire that all squads need and Tom certainly fits that bill," he said.

"He's a strong ball carrier and will provide a platform for us going forward."
