Scotland head coach Andy Robinson has recalled fly-half Dan Parks for the RBS Six Nations clash with Wales on Saturday.

Fly-half brought back into national side

Scotland head coach Andy Robinson has recalled fly-half Dan Parks for the RBS Six Nations match against Wales on Saturday. His return to the side has ended a 14-month exile after the 31-year-old failed to make the squad for the same tournament last year and the autumn internationals. Parks gained his first cap for Scotland in the Six Nations match against Wales back in 2004, as a replacement. Following his debut, the Glasgow Warrior became an ever-present in the national side and was involved in the Calcutta Cup victory over England in 2006. Despite being away from the international scene for so long, Parks insists he never feared his Scotland career was in doubt. He said: "I never really thought about it. It's been a while since I had my last cap. I've enjoyed the season and I'm looking forward to be back playing for Scotland." The performances of Parks for Glasgow Warriors have been virtually impossible for Robinson to ignore, with the fly-half becoming the first player to score 1000 points in the competition and powering the side to top spot in the Magners League.

Great Form

Parks admits he is playing some of the best rugby of his career. He added: "I certainly feel as if I'm playing well and I'm really enjoying my rugby. "It's been great this year - the guys are on top of the competition which makes it really worthwhile. "I'm just looking forward to bringing that Glasgow form to Scotland. I like to think I can bring certain things into a game and obviously Andy's picked me for certain reasons." Scotland were dominated territorially by France in their opening match of the tournament last weekend and Parks is hoping the team can make big improvements. He said: "It wasn't a great start and I think the guys know that. There were some good parts and obviously some bad parts. "I'm hoping that we can correct the things we did wrong but the biggest thing is we need to score tries."
