New Zealand international Rodney So'oialo has stepped down as captain of the Hurricanes, being replaced by Andrew Hore.

The No.8 struggled with a neck injury towards the end of last season's Super 14 and admits he will be concentrating on getting back to his best.

So'oialo said: "I want to really concentrate on my preparation and to be the best I can at what I do.

"I want to try and continue to contribute my all to the Hurricanes and to the All Blacks for the next two years."

Challenge

Hore faces a big challenge after taking over from So'oialo, with the hooker having never captained a senior side before.

However the 31-year-old is looking forward to the test and is hoping the responsibility will develop his game.

He says: "I captained the Otago development side for a bit, but nothing too serious really.

"But I've been in a few leadership groups as well, though, and there's a lot of the same guys around here too.

"It's going to be huge. I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully my game grows from it."
