Andy Tuilagi and Luke Abraham both face time on the sidelines for Sale, as the Sharks suffered a double injury blow.
The centre and back-row forward were both injured during the Heineken Cup defeat on Sunday against Toulouse and they join a lengthy injury list at the club, with seven other players currently in the treatment room.
Sale do not yet know the extent of the injuries, however with Tuilagi injuring his arm in the same place as he did for Samoa and Abraham sustaining a broken jaw, the pair are expected to be out for several weeks.
With the club having been knocked out of the Heineken Cup and currently lying only eighth in the Guinness Premiership, the bad news adds to what has been a disappointing season for the Sharks so far
When speaking after the news, Sale director of rugby Kingsley Jones responded in a frustrated manner.
Jones said: "That just about puts the icing on it for us. To pick up two bad injuries like these as well as going out of Europe is not great at all."
