Italy coach Nick Mallett has added highly-rated flanker Paul Derbyshire to his squad for the RBS Six Nations after Francesco Minto was ruled out.
The 22-year-old Parma flanker Minto was one of two uncapped players named in the original 30-man squad for the tournament however he has been left sidelined by injury.
That has opened the door for 23-year-old Petrarca Padova back-rower Derbyshire, who won his only cap against Australia in Canberra in the summer.
The former Azzurri Under-21 captain will now be hoping to forcing his way into the match-day squad for the tournament opener against Ireland.
