Gloucester fly-half in talks to move to Super 14 outfit

Gloucester fly-half Carlos Spencer could be set to quit Kingsholm to join Super 14 side Golden Lions. The 34-year-old is expected in Johannesburg for talks about teaming up with the Lions ahead of the new campaign after finding his chances at Gloucester limited. The former All Black only joined Gloucester from Northampton during last season, however he is seen as the ideal replacement for Andre Pretorius, who has moved to Western Force. "We are using him (Spencer) for his experience and also to guide the youngsters," Golden Lions president Kevin de Klerk told iafrica.com. De Klerk added the side are also in talks with more overseas players as well as Spencer. "The negotiations are at a delicate stage, but we are working on a couple more from abroad, as well as a few local players," he added.
