Saints lock handed three-week ban

Northampton lock Juandre Kruger was today handed a three-week ban for stamping during Saints' 29-13 Heineken Cup defeat to Perpignan last Friday. The independent disciplinary hearing found that Kruger had stamped on scrum-half Nicolas Durand and that the offence was in the mid-range of severity. The South African, who was suspended for one week following an internal disciplinary hearing, can resume playing on November 9. The hearing to consider the citing of Northampton team-mate Brian Mujati began in Dublin on Thursday but was adjourned. Mujati pleaded guilty to pushing referee Nigel Owens in the back during the same European match at Stade Aime Giral. The case was adjourned to allow additional evidence to be heard regarding the determination of the appropriate sanction, although an interim suspension until November 2 has been imposed on Mujati.
