Italy flanker Mauro Bergamasco is a doubt for the November internationals after suffering a suspected broken metatarsal.

Bergamasco injured his foot in Stade Francais' 9-9 draw with Toulouse at the weekend but the problem now looks more serious and officials say he will undergo further tests as soon as possible.

Italy are scheduled to host New Zealand, world champions South Africa and Samoa in November, and they are already without injured full-back Andrea Masi and forward Marco Bortolami (dislocated shoulder).

"Against New Zealand and South Africa we want to limit the deficit to 10 points but against Samoa, I want to win," Italy coach Nick Mallett told Gazzetta Dello Sport.
