South Africa hooker to return home

South Africa hooker Gary Botha is to quit Harlequins after Saturday's Guinness Premiership clash against Bath. Botha has spent the past two seasons at the Stoop, however he has now negotiated an early release from his current deal to return home with his family. The 27-year-old, capped 12 times by the Springboks, said: "I have clearly enjoyed my time at Quins and it is with a heavy heart that I will be leaving. "I would like to place on record my gratitude to Quins for agreeing to my situation and allowing an early release from my contract. "I have made many friends in my time at the club and will watch with interest the progress of the team." Quins coach John Kingston admitted he was disappointed to lose Botha but understood his decision to want to return to home. He said: "I am very saddened to see Gary departing us for South Africa. "He has been an integral part of the recent success of Quins. Equally, the club understands his situation, and were happy to facilitate his return back home."
