Lipman and Crockett appeals to be heard on September 7

A date has been set for the appeal hearings of banned former Bath players Michael Lipman and Alex Crockett. The pair, together with former team-mate Andrew Higgins, resigned from Bath on June 1 and were subsequently found guilty by a Rugby Football Union disciplinary panel of two charges of conduct prejudicial to the interests of the game. All three players were suspended for nine months for failing to submit to drugs tests on two separate occasions when requested to by Bath. Higgins has now retired from the sport, but flanker Lipman and centre Crockett - Bath's co-captains last season - are determined to fight for their futures. Matthew Lohn, a qualified doctor and solicitor who is also a member of the new UK national anti-doping panel, will chair the appeal on September 7. And he will be flanked by barrister Philip Evans and solicitor Julian Morris, who spent 15 years as a doctor before re-training in law.
