Wasps have announced that England flanker Tom Rees will captain them during the 2009-10 season.

A product of the club's academy, Rees already has experience of leading Wasps after injury forced the retirement of Raphael Ibanez during the second half of last season.

The 24-year-old has made 95 appearances for the club and also has 15 caps.

Furthermore, Wasps' new director of rugby Tony Hanks has named Serge Betsen and Phil Vickery as Rees's vice captains.

Hanks said: "Tom is a hugely focused and determined individual who is one of the best players in his position not just in the Premiership but in Europe and on the world stage.

"When leading the side last season he stood out as someone who could not only influence a game in terms of his player management, but consistent positive feedback from the referees also showed his maturity and strength."
