Wales captain ready to make the most of chance

Wales captain Ryan Jones has admitted he is "anxious" to help out the British and Irish Lions after being called up for the tour to South Africa. Jones has received the call from Lions head coach Ian McGeechan after Irish flanker Stephen Ferris tore a knee ligament in training. Ferris, who had impressed in his appearances on the tour, faces a six-week spell out after a scan revealed the extent of the injury. Ferris' loss is Jones' gain, though, with the Osprey flying out to Cape Tour as a replacement for the second successive Lions tour. And having missed out on the original selection, Jones is keen to make the most of his belated opportunity. Jones said: "I am delighted to have received this call-up and I am just really looking forward to joining the squad later this week. "Obviously it is disappointing for Stephen Ferris who is a superb player and I wish him a quick and full recovery from his injury. "I am anxious to help the Lions in any way I can and I recognise how this is a great honour for me and my family."
