Dean Schofield has been named as Sale's new captain following the departure of Juan Martin Fernandez Lobbe.
The lock will be assisted in his role by England internationals Mark Cueto and Charlie Hodgson, who will both act as vice-captains at Edgeley Park.
Schofield has already had a taste of leadership duties, standing in at the start of the 2007/08 campaign when Jason White was away on World Cup duty.
And Sale boss Kingsley Jones wants the 30-year-old to spearhead a fluid system next season.
"I don't mind saying that Dean's not going to be the greatest rugby tactician in the world but he leads by example and when you've got someone operating alongside him like Charlie they will manage the game between them," Jones said.
"Dean will be the captain and will follow me, whilst Charlie will decide if we kick the penalty or run the ball and will run the game and that's how it should be.
"Look at Munster - Paul O'Connell doesn't run the game, that's Ronan O'Gara's job. Mark can also captain the side and he's certainly got leadership qualities and like Dean and Charlie, everyone respects him."
Argentine World Cup star Lobbe is off to Toulon this summer, meanwhile, where he will link up with former Sale boss Philippe Saint-Andre.
