England centre said to be having problems settling at Kingsholm

Gloucester have revealed that centre Olly Barkley could be on his way out after just one season at Kingsholm. The England playmaker has been something of a bit-part player under Dean Ryan this term, with the Cherry and Whites opting for Ryan Lamb and more recently Carlos Spencer as first-choice starters. And with the Daily Mirror reporting that chairman Tom Walkinshaw has added weight to claims that Barkley is unhappy at his new side, a premature departure alongside Lamb, Spencer, Anthony Allen and Carlos Nieto may be on the cards. "We know what Olly wants and we won't stand in his way," Walkinshaw explained. "He's not that happy in the Gloucester area. I think he wants to be around Bath." But the chairman insisted there was no truth in the rumour that boss Ryan would be following Barkley out of the club with the EDF Energy Cup final and the Guinness Premiership play-offs still up for grabs. "There are no issues with Dean as far as I am concerned, nor the rest of the board. I fully expect him to be with Gloucester next season," he added.
