Wales scrum-half Gareth Cooper has agreed to join Cardiff next season after failing to claim a regular first-team place at Gloucester.
Cooper, who is currently sidelined with a knee injury, is believed to have agreed a two-year deal at the Blues and will compete with Jason Spice for the No.9 shirt.
Cooper joined Gloucester in 2007 from Newport-Gwent Dragons, but has found his chances limited due to injury and the form of Rory Lawson.
The Cherry and Whites also have Dave Lewis coming through the ranks, while fly-half Ryan Lamb has also impressed there.
The return to Wales of former Celtic Warrior Cooper will come as a boost for national coach Warren Gatland, who wants all his players to be based in the Principality.
