Australia coach Robbie Deans has named Brumbies lock Peter Kimlin in his squad for the tour to Hong Kong and Europe.
The 23-year-old Kimlin replaces James Horwill for the trip after the Queensland Reds lock was ruled out to have surgery on his injured foot.
Deans, though, believes Kimlin will be the ideal replacement having impressed for the Brumbies in his first full Super 14s season.
"The opportunity for Peter has come a little bit earlier than we had perhaps anticipated, but he is certainly a player that we were looking to promote," said Deans.
"He was part of the Australia A programme earlier in the year where he did very well.
"His performance there told us that he was a player who had the capability to step up to the next level."
Australia will head to Hong Kong for the final Bledisloe Cup Test of the year against New Zealand on November 1.
The Wallabies will then head to Europe to face Italy, England, France and Wales as well the Barbarians.
