Leicester Tigers flanker Tom Croft believes that his side's opening-day win will have forced other Guinness Premiership teams to take notice.
After a poor finish to last season, the Tigers were far from bookie-favourites for this year's title.
But the 22-year-old is confident in his side, after a 20-8 win over Gloucester made it three victories in seven months for the Tigers at Kingsholm.
Croft told the Leicester Mercury: "I think it has set the benchmark to the Guinness Premiership. I think teams will sit up and take note of the fact that we can play away from home against big teams.
"I think the key to the win was everyone made sure their job was done to the best of their potential and, if you have that, you gel as a team.
"Last season was not as successful as we would have wanted and Gloucester is a massive team to play first up. But we set our own standards and, if our standards are not high enough, we will push them up."
