Osprey prop Cai Griffiths has signed a new four-year contract which will keep him at the Liberty stadium until 2012.

The number of players who have recently extended their time with the club now totals 14.

The 24-year-old Bangor native has made a total of 51 appearances for the Ospreys since his move to the club in 2003.

He said: "The Ospreys are the leading region in Welsh rugby, it's a forward thinking and ambitious set-up that clearly has an exciting future.

"It's great to be a part of the Ospreys squad, working with guys like these, competing with them and learning from them can only make me a better player."

Coach Jonathan Humphreys thinks the move will push Griffiths to achieve his full potential as a player.

He said: "His versatility and ability to play on both sides will certainly benefit the squad over the next four years.

"I expect to see him contesting the number three shirt with Adam Jones, really pushing him hard for the starting spot."
