Talented All Black agrees three-year deal

New Zealand back Nick Evans has ended speculation about his future by agreeing to move to Guinness Premiership outfit Harlequins. Evans, who can play at fly-half or full-back, will join Quins on a three-year deal after completing his Air New Zealand Cup commitments with Auckland. He has been in fine form for the Blues in the Super 14s this season and the New Zealand Rugby Union had hoped to convince him to remain in the country. However the offer to spearhead Harlequins' assault on the Heineken Cup and the Premiership was just too good to turn down - with ambition rather than cash the driving factor for Evans. NZRU's general manager of professional rugby Neil Sorensen said: "We were definitely keen to keep him playing here in New Zealand. "While we are disappointed to lose a player and person of his calibre, we respect his decision and we wish him well over there." Evans, who has scored 103 points in 16 Tests, becomes the second player to announce he will be leaving the Blues, following Isa Nacewa's decision to join Leinster. Coach David Nucifora has also announced he will be quitting the club at the end of the season to return to his native Australia.
