Western Force utility back Drew Mitchell is determined to use the Super 14s to cement his place on the wing for Australia.
Mitchell had a dream World Cup in France where he scored seven tries in his five matches and would like to build on that performance in 2008.
And having being given the nod to play on the wing for his club - with Cameron Shepherd moving to full-back - the 23-year-old wants to prove his worth on the international stage.
"The World Cup gave me a huge amount of confidence in terms of my play on the wing and what I'm capable of doing if I put myself in those positions," Mitchell, once a reluctant winger, told the AAP.
"When you're playing a good brand of rugby, being a winger is quite appealing.
"If your forward pack and backline are creating opportunities for you to finish them then that is quite exciting."
