Roche: fractured eye socket
London Irish flanker Kieran Roche does not require surgery on the fractured eye socket he suffered during Saturday's 23-6 Heineken Cup defeat in Perpignan.
Perpignan prop Perry Freshwater has been cited by European rugby officials for allegedly catching Roche with a swinging elbow.
The 33-year-old faces at least four weeks on the sidelines but, following examinations by a surgeon and ophthalmologist on his return to London, it has been confirmed he will not need surgery.
At the very least, Roche will miss the Exiles' upcoming Guinness Premiership games against Worcester (Dec 23), Leicester (Dec 29) and Sale (Jan 6), plus the home Heineken Cup clash with Newport-Gwent Dragons (Jan 12).
