England captain accused of trampling on an opponent

England captain Phil Vickery is set appear before an independent disciplinary committee in Dublin after allegedly trampling on an opponent. The London Wasps prop has been cited by match commissioner Aurwell Morgan for clashing with ASM Clermont Auvergne lock Thibaut Privat during the 37-27 the Heineken Cup defeat on December 8. Vickery will appear before the committee - chaired by Rod McKenzie and also comprising Dr Barry O'Driscoll and Richard McGhee - on December 19 and if found guilty, he could find himself facing a spell on the sidelines. Albi second row Arnaud Mela is also due to face the disciplinary committee on that day after he was cited for allegedly punching Bath's Steve Borthwick in their European Challenge Cup clash.
