Perpignan prop called up to toughen up France's front row

Perpignan prop Nicolas Mas has been called up for France's World Cup scrum to provide opposition, according to officials. The French squad are currently unable to practice real scrums as they only have three fully fit props - Olivier Milloud, Pieter De Villiers and Jean-Baptiste Poux.

Ignored

Mas, who has eight caps, has been brought into the squad for warm-up matches on Thursday and August 9th as the squad's other prop Sylvain Marconnet is still far from fit following a spiral fracture of his tibia in March. The 27-year-old made his debut for France against the All Blacks on the 2003 summer tour and played a large role in the teams 2005 Six Nations battle; however he was largely ignored for the tournament a year later. Despite having twice reached the finals of the World Cup, France has yet to win the tournament. Their first match of their Group D campaign is against Argentina on September 9th.
