Dai Young: The Wasps boss will welcome back key players

London Wasps expect to return to full strength for their Aviva Premiership match against defending champions Saracens at Adams Park on Sunday.

The club have been plagued by injuries this season but director of rugby Dai Young will bolster his squad as he aims to guide Wasps out of the bottom half of the table.

"This week I believe we'll be able to put out our strongest side in a while," Young said.

"Guys like Nick Robinson, Marco Wentzel and Richard Birkett are all back after absences and this week we've talked long and hard as a group about the need to pull together and move forward."

New recruit and USA international Paul Emerick will also be added to the squad along with on-loan wing signings Tom Prydie and Lee Robinson.

"We've added seven players to the squad in the past few months," said Young.

More competition

"It might look drastic but that's how we have had to deal with the number of players out.

"What it has given is better competition for places as well as a much bigger squad to train with which has at times been a problem this season."

Young is also eager for the team to put last week's disheartening LV= Cup defeat to Northampton behind them and focus on three upcoming Premiership matches.

"I don't think last weekend's result is relevant because when you look at the side that played it's fair to say it was a second-string one for the most part," he continued.

"The cup gave us a chance to rest some guys who had played more than we would have liked and they have come back this week fresh and hungry."
