Sonny Bill Williams: Won the New Zealand heavyweight title

Sky Bet

All Blacks star Sonny Bill Williams has continued to impress in the ring after winning the New Zealand heavyweight title with a first-round knockout.

The 26-year-old shook Clarence Tillman with a left hook during the first round and followed up with a flurry of blows before the referee stepped in to stop the fight.

The easy win over the Aukland-based American takes Williams' professional boxing record to five wins and no losses.

Special clause

The Chiefs back was supposed to face Richard Tutaki but he was replaced following serious criminal charges with Tillman, in a fight dubbed the "Battle For The Belt".

However Tillman, with an unimpressive record of 11-8-2, failed to even land a blow on Williams during their bout in the Hamilton Arena.

Tillman, though, had wobbled Williams in the build up to the fight after the two rivals clashed during Tuesday's weigh-in.

Former rugby league player Williams has a special clause in his New Zealand contract allowing him to pursue his boxing career.
