Chris Ashton: Will play for Saracens from next season

Sky Bet

Saracens have officially confirmed the signing of England winger Chris Ashton from Northampton.

A move to Saracens has been in the pipeline for the 24-year-old for the past few months, with Ashton having made it clear that he would not be renewing his deal at the Saints.

Ashton, who has scored 90 tries in 106 appearances for Northampton following his cross-code switch from Wigan, has now agreed a long-term deal with the defending Premiership champions.

A spokesman for Saracens said: "We are obviously especially delighted but, for now, Chris remains a Northampton player.

"Out of respect for Saints, Saracens will not make any further comment on the matter."

Ashton, who was part of England's squad at the Rugby World Cup, will team up with fellow former Wigan stars Joel Tomkins and Andy Farrell at Vicarage Road.

However, Ashton has vowed to focus on Northampton for the rest of the season.

He wrote on Twitter: "I've decided to join Saracens from next season ... until then it's all about Saints."
