Serbian doubles specialist wants Davis Cup glory

Nenad Zimonjic is hoping that Serbia's team spirit and will to win can carry them to victory over France in the Davis Cup final this weekend. The 34-year-old doubles specialist is set to play a key role in Belgrade as his country search for their first ever title in the competition. Zimonjic recently rounded off another successful year with victory in the ATP Tour Finals with Daniel Nestor but is now searching for an even more prestigious victory. "It's the biggest achievement that Serbia has as a country in tennis. I'm looking forward to... playing the biggest final in our tennis history," he said. "It would mean everything to the players, to the Federation, to people there, to say we are world champions. "Maybe not all of them knew what Davis Cup is. Now I believe they know that it's like a world championships in tennis."

In contrast France, who have four players ranked in the world's top 30, are looking to clinch the Davis Cup for a 10th time. Zimonjic added: "There is no comparison with us and France, they are nine times Davis Cup champions. "They have eight or nine players that can play any day in the Davis Cup. But we are strong. We are good friends, all four of us, off the court, which helps a lot in situations like this coming up." Zimonjic's doubles partner is yet to be decided but is likely to be either Janko Tipsarevic or Viktor Troicki, who are fighting it out for the second singles spot alongside Novak Djokovic. France are likely to field Michael Llodra and Arnaud Clement in the doubles, although the former also holds out hope of being selected for the singles rubbers by captain Guy Forget. "I'm ready, but it's up to Forget to decide," the world number 23 said. French number one Gael Monfils will lead the singles challenge alongside either Llodra or Gilles Simon.
