England prop pleads guilty to striking Kieran Roche

England prop Perry Freshwater has been suspended for four weeks for striking London Irish flanker Kieran Roche. Freshwater, the captain of Perpignan, had pleaded guilty to the charges after been cited by commissioner John West for the incident during the Heineken Cup clash at Stade Aime Giral on Saturday, December 15. Exiles flanker Roche, 33, was left with a fractured eye socket after being caught by Freshwater's left arm - and himself faces a month on the sidelines. An independent disciplinary committee met in Glasgow on Wednesday and "determined that the offence was of mid-range in the level of seriousness". Freshwater's suspension runs from Wednesday until Tuesday January 15.
