Toulouse remain on course for a 19th domestic title after they overcame Castres 24-15 in the Top 14 play-off semi-final.
Luke McAlister led the way for Toulouse in a try-less encounter, with the former All Black landing 18 points - including two penalties from inside his own half.
Lionel Beauxis added a penalty and drop-goal, while a superb tackle from Vincent Clerc denied Max Evans the only try of the game.
Evans was hauled down and turned on his back by the France winger as he crossed the line.
However, despite seeing the defending champions reduced to 13 men in the first half - with first Florian Fritz and then Timoci Matanavou yellow-carded - Castres could only register 12 points from Pierre Bernard and a penalty from Romain Teulet.
"I'm really happy, everyone in the dressing room was," said McAlister.
"Tonight, my kicking was good. I haven't had that kind of success with the boot lately."
Toulouse will now face the winners of Sunday's clash between Toulon and Clermont.
