Perpignan avoided another Italian banana-skin with a 44-9 victory at Treviso.
The French side lost to the Catalans outfit in last season's competition and the hosts looked capable of pulling off another upset as three penalties from fly-half Willem de Waal put them 9-3 up.
But full-back Jerome Porical kicked his second and third penalties for the visitors to level the scores by half-time, before Perpignan ran amok after the break.
Gregory Le Corvec, Farid Sid, Nicolas Laharrague, and Julien Candelon (two) all crossed for tries to seal what was eventually a comfortable win.
The bonus-point victory keeps Perpignan right in the chase for a Heineken Cup quarter-final spot, although they are likely to need at least a win from their final pool clash with the Scarlets if they are to progress as Pool 5 winners.
