Meanwhile, former Leigh, Halifax, Huddersfield and Castleford stand-off Stuart Donlan made a winning start to his role as Canada head coach by guiding the Wolverines to a 24-20 win over Jamaica in front of a 3,000 crowd in the rain in Toronto.

"Great win tonight," tweeted Donlan, who took up a two-year contract with Canada after leaving his post as Salford assistant coach earlier this year.

"Canada toughed it out showed great commitment and pride. Proud coach tonight. First-ever win as a head coach. Cheers boys."
