Centre Lelauloto Tagaloa has become the second USA Tomahawks' World Cup player to sign for a Championship club.

The 26-year-old Samoa-born Hawaii-based player, who helped the Tomahawks to World Cup group wins over Cook Islands and Wales, has signed a two-year contract with champions Sheffield Eagles.

Tagaloa's USA team-mate Mark Offerdahl recently signed a 12-month deal with newly-promoted North Wales Crusaders.

Sheffield coach Mark Aston said: "I'm thrilled Loto has agreed to join us for the next two seasons. He's a big, strong and fast centre and he is hungry to play at this level."

Enjoyment

The 6ft 3in Tagaloa, whose arrival is subject to a successful visa application, is a student in Honolulu, where he played for the Hawaii Chiefs in the AMNRL, and supplemented his income by delivering talks on his Samoan culture including fire-dancing demonstrations.

"I enjoyed my time in the UK during the World Cup and I'm excited to be coming to Sheffield," he said.

"I've heard a lot about the club, beating Wigan in the Challenge Cup back in '98 and the recent Championship Grand Final wins. It's a great club to be joining."
