Kevin Sinfield is hoping Leeds can produce their best form in Saturday's Challenge Cup final against the Warrington Wolves.

The Super League champions have shown glimpses of their potential this season, although inconsistency means they are not vying for the League Leaders' Shield.

Leeds were on song to beat leaders Wigan in the semi-finals at Huddersfield and Sinfield knows it will take a similar performance to see off Tony Smith's side.

Sinfield admits Leeds tried to address their consistency problem early in the season, stating they do not want to constantly rely on raising their game on the big occasion.

"We've talked about our consistency, but for whatever reason we've not quite been able to hit our straps fully week-in, week-out, unlike Warrington and Wigan the top two teams."
Kevin Sinfield Quotes of the week

"It's something we would have liked to have addressed at the start of the year," he told Sky Sports regarding the club's inconsistent form.

Consistency

"We've talked about our consistency, but for whatever reason we've not quite been able to hit our straps fully week-in, week-out, unlike Warrington and Wigan - the top two teams.

"But we have been able to raise our game on different occasions and it's not something we want to rely on.

"We didn't set out for the season to pan out this way, but we find ourselves in fifth and hopefully we can reproduce our best form on final day."

The Wolves beat the Rhinos 30-6 in the 2010 final, just one of five final defeats Leeds have endured since beating the London Broncos at the old Wembley in 1999.

Sinfield, who did not play in 1999, believes Leeds have not been good enough to win the trophy since toppling the Broncos: "It doesn't feel strange if I'm honest. We've probably not been good enough so far.

Performance

"I believe you get what you deserve and so far we've not performed as we'd have liked and that's why we've not been able to lift it.

There will be plenty of big names on show when Leeds take on Warrington and Sinfield is predicting a special final.

"If you look throughout both teams there are special players and I think that's what's going to make it a great final.

"We're fortunate we've got a lot of experience in our side, unfortunately not in winning this trophy, so hopefully we can draw on some of that big-game experience and turn up on Saturday and play well."
