Featherstone have signed Tonga international Etuate Uaisele for the 2014 season.
The Championship club have beaten off competition from a number of Super League teams for the 28-year-old centre or winger, who played for Tonga in the 2008 World Cup and will link up Rovers after this year's World Cup.
"I am really excited about joining Featherstone following the World Cup," said Uaisele, who has made a total of 30 NRL appearances with Parramatta and Penrith.
"I will be striving to help the team with their quest to be in the Super League in 2015.
"There was significant interest from Super League clubs in the UK but I was impressed with the vision and enthusiasm of Rovers which I share. I can't wait to get started."
Featherstone chief executive Craig Poskitt said: "This is a marquee signing and is a signal of our intent in 2014 to be the dominant force outside Super League in preparation for 2015.
Rovers are currently drawing up a short-list of candidates as they consider a successor to Daryl Powell, who left as head coach last weekend to join Castleford.
