Blanch: Two-year deal
Wakefield and Ireland winger Damien Blanch has put his injury heartache aside by agreeing a new two-year contract at Belle Vue.
It has been a season to forget for the former Widnes and Castleford player, a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament ending his campaign five months prematurely.
Blanch, 26, has scored 19 tries in 25 Super League appearances for Wakefield, and is confident of being fit for the start of next season.
"It is a big injury but it's feeling pretty good now and I'm doing lots of running," he said.
Wildcats coach John Kear said: "It was really disappointing to lose Damien to injury because he had started the season in very good form after an excellent World Cup.
"He has been very committed and disciplined to his rehabilitation programme and I think we will see an even stronger Damien Blanch next season."
