Chris Hill: Called into England's 24-man squad to face France and Wales this Autumn
Warrington Wolves' Chris Hill has been called into England's 24-man squad for the Autumn Series against France and Wales.
The former Leigh Centurions man has enjoyed a season to remember for Tony Smith's side, helping the team win the Challenge Cup final and reach Saturday's Super League Grand Final.
Hill is joined by fellow Wolves colleagues Adrian Morley, Ben Westwood, centre Ryan Atkins and playmaker Stephen Myler.
NRL stars Sam Burgess (South Sydney Rabbitohs) and James Graham (Canterbury Bulldogs) are also included, however, Melbourne Storm's Grand Final winner Gareth Widdop is out due to a shoulder injury.
League Leaders' Shield winners Wigan Warriors have no fewer than six players selected by coach Steve McNamara, including Man of Steel winner Sam Tomkins.
Grand Finalists Leeds Rhinos have seven players included by McNamara. Utility man Carl Ablett, Ryan Hall, youngster Zak Hardaker, Jamie Jones-Buchanan, centre Kallum Watkins and Kevin Sinfield have all been called up.
Hardaker, 20, was on Monday night named Super League young player of the year after impressing in his first full season with the Rhinos, initially at centre and more recently at full-back.
Man of Steel nominee James Roby has been 'rested', meaning St Helens have no representation in the series.
McNamara is looking forward to see how Hill, 24, adapts to the international stage after making a smooth transition to Super League level.
"One player who has impressed me throughout the Super League season is Warrington's Chris Hill and deserves his call-up to the senior squad," commented McNamara.
"I want to see how he, along with the other young players, adapts to the rigours of international competition.
"It will be great for their development to be training and playing alongside the likes of Sam Burgess and Kevin Sinfield."
Each nation will host one match in the series which culminates in the final at Salford City Stadium on Sunday November 11.
England's 24-man squad: Ablett, Atkins, Briscoe, S Burgess, Burrow, Charnley, Chase, Cudjoe, Ellis, Graham, Hall, Hardaker, Hill, Hock, JJB, Mcllorum, Morley, Mossop, Myler, O'Loughlin, Sinfield, Tomkins, Watkins, Westwood.
