Castleford have issued a statement wishing half-back Marc Sneyd all the best ahead of his move to Hull FC – and revealed they hope to announce the identity his replacement in the near future.
Sneyd has impressed on loan at the Tigers this season from Salford Red Devils, helping Daryl Powell’s side become ensconced in the play-off positions as well as reaching the semi-finals of the Tetley’s Challenge Cup.
His performances have not got unnoticed by rival Super League clubs, and on Tuesday Hull announced they had secured the 22-year-old for 2015 and beyond after agreeing to pay Salford a six-figure transfer fee.
The Tigers had hoped to sign the young playmaker on a permanent basis themselves but are now instead targeting other half-backs, with new editions set to be named soon.
“Castleford Tigers would like to wish half back Marc Sneyd the best of luck ahead of his move to Hull FC from Salford for the 2015 campaign,” the club said in a statement.
“Sneyd has played an important role in Castleford's success this season after joining on loan from the Red Devils, and we hope this continues until the end of the season.
“The club will be announcing its half back signings for the 2015 season in conjunction with the clubs they are leaving soon.
“We would like to thank Marc for the commitment he has shown this year. He and his family will always be welcomed back at The Mend-A-Hose Jungle in the future.”
Castleford are in action on Thursday night, live on Sky Sports 1 from 7.30pm, when they face Widnes Vikings.
